Mental Health Kokua (MHK) is the oldest, private non-profit mental health organization in Hawaii providing housing, case management, homeless outreach, and psychiatry and counseling services.

Provides evaluation, counseling and referral for persons experiencing acute mental or emotional health problems and family instability resulting from situational or developmental life crisis, including drug and alcohol problems.

Outpatient Services:
Mental Health Kokua provides prescribing services for MHK's programs on Oahu, Maui and Kona.
MHK's prescribing services includes psychiatric evaluation and medication management by licensed psychiatrists, and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses with prescriptive authority.

Mental Health Kokua offers 24-hour supervised group residential facilities and individualized services in transitional housing settings. Agency projects in this category that serve consumers with serious mental illnesses are located on Oahu, in East Hawaii and West Hawaii, on Maui and on Kauai.

Supportive Living Options:
•Semi-Supervised Living- This supportive group housing is provided on a less intense level, with consumer support available 8-16 hours a day on site and 24 hour on-call. Residences are located on Oahu, on Maui, in East Hawaii and West Hawaii, and on Kauai.
•Semi-Independent Living serves adults requiring minimal on-site supervision.
•Supported Housing (Housing First). Our most independent housing with support services provided as appropriate and as often to meet the individual needs of the consumer.

Homeless Outreach:
Outreach services are provided in Kauai, Oahu, Maui, and Kona for homeless adults with mentally illness with behavioral health services and other resources, including entitlements, for assistance with permanent supported housing.

Case Management:
Community-based case management services are provided in Kauai, Oahu, Maui, Hilo and Kona with individuals who need support and assistance in community recovery. MHK’s case mangers interacts regularly and are part of a team consisting of the person served, a psychiatrist, family members and any involved mental health provider as indicated. MHK staff members are on-call for after hour coverage.
